Got Your Back Network is proud to announce that Austin Heltzel of Denham Springs, Louisiana won our 2016 college scholarship. Austin attended the Denham Springs High School and will attend Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond this fall studying criminal justice. Austin is the son of Christy Wyble Heltzel and Sgt. Paul M. Heltzel, deceased.
Austin was awarded the scholarship because of his full lifestyle, which includes school, community involvement, and a yard service business. Austin maintained a 3.2 grade point average while being a member of several clubs and working after school. He was active in JADD and SADD, organizations that teach and inform young people that positive peer pressure, role modeling and environmental strategies can prevent destructive decisions and set a healthier, safer course for their lives. Austin operates his own yard service business after school and on weekends.
Got Your Back Network (GYBN) is a non-profit foundation, founded by Commander Andy J. Baldwin, to provide services to families of fallen soldiers. GYBN started a college scholarship program for children of the fallen in 2015. If you have any questions, please contact me at 717-305-0159.
